Electronic Transport of Zigzag Graphene Nanoribbons with Edge Hydrogenation and Oxidation

چکیده
By using non-equilibrium Green’s functions in combination with the density-functional theory, we study the effect of zigzag graphene nanoribbons with edge hydrogenation and oxidation on transport properties. We find that for the ferromagnetic (FM) configuration the ZGNRs with CH2-CH group exhibit spin diode effect in which only one spin can occur under positive bias while the other spin occurs under negative bias. In the antiferromagnetic (AF) state the symmetric ZGNRs with CH2-CH group show the spin filter effect within some specific energy windows. However, the asymmetric ZGNRs with CH2 -CH group do not show such a spin filter effect. We also find that the symmetric and asymmetric ZGNRs with C2O-CH group in AF configurations show similar transport behaviors at the Fermi level. Such ZGNRs might be exploited in spintronic nanodevices. PACS Number(s): 71.15. Mb, 72.25.-b, 73.63.-b.

Spin-polarized transport through a zigzag-edge graphene flake embedded between two armchair nanoribbons electrodes
We study the coherent spin-polarized transport through a zigzag-edge graphene flake (ZGF), using Hubbard model in the nearest neighbor approximation within the framework of the Green function’s technique and Landauer formalism. The system considered consists of electrode/ (ZGF)/electrode, in which the electrodes are chosen to be armchair nanoribbons. The study was performed for two types of ele...

We investigate electron and phonon transport through edge disordered zigzag graphene nanoribbons based on the same methodological tool of nonequilibrium Green functions. We show that edge disorder dramatically reduces phonon thermal transport while being only weakly detrimental to electronic conduction. The behavior of the electronic and phononic elastic mean free paths points to the possibilit...
متن کاملEdge contact dependent spin transport for n-type doping zigzag-graphene with asymmetric edge hydrogenation
Spin transport features of the n-type doping zigzag graphene nanoribbons (ZGNRs) with an edge contact are investigated by first principle methods, where ZGNRs are C-H2 bonded at one edge while C-H bonded at the other to form an asymmetric edge hydrogenation. The results show that a perfect spin filtering effect (100%) in such ZGNR nanojunctions can be achieved in a very large bias region for th...
متن کاملEffects of Edge Oxidation on the Structural, Electronic, and Magnetic Properties of Zigzag Boron Nitride Nanoribbons.
The effects of edge chemistry on the relative stability and electronic properties of zigzag boron nitride nanoribbons (ZBNNRs) are investigated. Among all functional groups considered, fully hydroxylated ZBNNRs are found to be the most energetically stable. When an in-plane external electric field is applied perpendicular to the axis of both hydrogenated and hydroxylated ZBNNRs, a spin-polarize...

We will present brief overview on the electronic and transport properties of graphene nanoribbons focusing on the effect of edge shapes and impurity scattering. The low-energy electronic states of graphene have two non-equivalent massless Dirac spectrum. The relative distance between these two Dirac points in the momentum space and edge states due to the existence of the zigzag type graphene ed...
